Tinder is simple.
You upload a few pictures, write a short bio, and willing women keep blowing up your phone. At least, that’s what Tinder promises. But unless you look like one of the Spartans from 300, it ain’t going to happen.
So, if you’re a mere mortal like me…
Here are 13 proven Tinder hacks to get more dates:
Tinder Hack #1: Save your money
The first two things most men do to get more matches is to buy boosts or upgrade to a premium Tinder membership.
It looks like a fair exchange: You give Tinder money and get more matches. The only problem is all you do is make Tinder rich. If you can’t get matches with your free profile, you won’t get matches by getting boosts or Tinder gold.
It’s like running ads for a restaurant with terrible food. Getting more people in the door won’t make the food taste better. All you’ll get is more people standing up and leaving once they’re in your restaurant.
You should have fixed the recipes first before running ads. And on Tinder, you should improve your pictures plus bio before getting boosts or Tinder gold.
Once you have a great profile, then you’ll be able to get more matches on Tinder by paying to show your profile to more women.

Tinder Hack #2: Swipe on the go
Keep moving.
It’s good advice for staying in shape but also for getting matches. Most guys usually swipe in the evening after a long day at work. But swiping right from the same location every time can cost you matches.
Tinder gives preferential treatment to guys living close to their potential matches. In other words, some guy might get the match, and you don’t because he lives a block away from her. To get around that, you should swipe from different locations within your city:
- When you’re on your way to work
- When you’re on a lunch break
- When you’re out in the grocery store
The more locations you can cover, the better. Also, Tinder loves active users. The algorithm will give you bonus points for using the app often.
Tinder Hack #3: Stop swiping right
Wait before you swipe.
Tinder wants you to take a moment and consider if you want to match with the girl on your swipe deck. I know, I know. Have the programmers who created the algorithm ever met men before?
Obviously, they haven’t.
Otherwise, they would know that if a woman looks hot in her first picture, we swipe right. And if she isn’t hot in any picture, we swipe left.
It’s not our fault that we are superficial at first. Science shows it’s rooted in our male biology.
But to get the algorithm to show you to more women, you must carefully consider who you match with. So look at her pictures, read her bio, and then swipe.
Also, Tinder isn’t a fan if you swipe right on every woman in your deck. If you do that, don’t be surprised if you suddenly don’t get any likes and matches.
Tinder Hack #4: Be flexible when you swipe
What’s better?
To be a big fish in a small pound or a small fish in a big pound?
In Tinder’s case, the answer is both.
More women will see your profile if you swipe during prime time. But you’ll also have more guys to compete with. According to Nielsen, the prime time is between 8 to 10 p.m. on Monday to Thursday + Sunday. It’s also the best time to use a Tinder boost.
That’s when you’ll be a small fish in a big pound.
Now, if you swipe outside of prime time, for example, during your lunch break, fewer women will see your profile. But you also have less competition to worry about. That’s when you’ll be a big fish in a smaller pound.
In my experience, the best is to alternate between those time frames to maximize your potential to get more matches.
Tinder Hack #5: Adjust your search filter
Most men never change the default setting for their Tinder search.
To improve your chances of getting more matches, you should do the following:
- Lower your search radius to around 15 miles (25 km)
- Set the age range from +5/-5 years within your age
Here’s a quick video to show you how to change the search filter:
You might think: “Why would I tell Tinder to show my profile to fewer women?”
This signalizes the algorithm you’re serious about matching with someone. So, it will show your profile to more women within the new age range and distance you set.
Side note: If you live in a rural area, try setting the distance as suggested. But if you start noticing a massive drop in the number of matches you’re getting, increase your distance in 5-mile increments until you’re happy with the results.
Tinder Hack #6: Change your pictures
Your pictures are the most important part of your profile.
You can get everything else right, but if your pictures suck, you won’t get any matches.
The question now is, what type of pictures should you use?
The short answer is that your pictures need to tell a story. The story of what it would be like to date you. Your pictures need to show your personality. A study from the University of Göttingen asked 68,000 women in 180 countries to figure out what women want from men. The researchers discovered personality is the most important attribute in a man.
But what do most guys do on Tinder?
They just put together their pictures at random, just like my client Tony:
What do you think are the results he got?
2 matches and 5 likes.
Can you see the issue here?
Women can’t tell anything interesting about his personality based on his profile. So they swipe left.
This is why we changed his pictures to show more of his personality:
In just 3 days, he got:
- 13 matches
- And 3 dates
Of course, a new profile alone won’t get you dates… you need to know how to text in the right way as well.
But getting 3 dates in just 3 days with his new profile is quite impressive, right?
Could he have done even better?
Sure, if we hired a professional photographer to take new pictures of him. But we used the pictures on his hard drive since he was busy.
Tinder Hack #7: Validate your pictures before you burn matches
Studies have shown that we judge ourselves way too harshly.
This means you can’t trust your own opinion about your pictures. So, get someone else to give you feedback before you upload them and burn some potential matches for good.
Who?
Ask women!
Preferably, get the opinion of a professional female photographer.
If you don’t know one, you can ask female friends or use sites like Photofeeler.com.
Sites like Photofeeler allow you to get objective feedback from women.
I recommend you use the free version, which is great if you’re on a budget.
Tinder Hack #8: Invite her to make the first move
Humans are biologically wired to be lazy.
This is why you have to make it as easy as possible for a woman to reach out to you.
Finish your bio with an invitation to make the first move like this:
If you noticed, I shared my personality in this bio example. It’s one of the ways you can create a bio to get more matches. But there are many more.
You can check out my article about Tinder Bios for guys, where I break down 207+ of the best and worst bio examples you can find online.
Tinder Hack #9: Prove you are real
Fake profiles on Tinder are as common as pumpkin spice lattes during autumn.
So, to get more matches, you need to prove you’re real. The simplest way is to get a photo verification. You submit a selfie to Tinder, and it’ll check that you look the same as in your pictures.
Here’s a short video to show you how to do it:
After it’s done, your profile will get a blue checkmark to show to other users that you’re verified.
Additionally, you can connect your Instagram account to Tinder and leave a link to your Instagram in your bio. This way, your potential match can see you’re a real person, not a 50-year-old guy living with his mum.
But only do this if your Instagram account has great pictures. Otherwise, you risk losing your potential match.
Tinder Hack #10: Never unmatch
Whenever you unmatch someone, your Tinder algorithm score goes down.
Tinder wants to see that you can keep its female users entertained. The happier they are, the more they’ll use the app. And more women on the app will attract more male users. So, never unmatch a woman, even if you last talked to her a few months ago. It’s a sign that you can’t keep women entertained, and Tinder will stop sending you more women your way.
Don’t do anything; just let your dead-end matches collect dust in your inbox.
Also, you should, at all costs, avoid a woman unmatching you.
How?
With superb texting skills.
Tinder Hack #11: Get her to reply to your first message
“Hi”.
This is the most common first message on Tinder. I get it. Coming up with a first message that stands out and gets a reply isn’t easy. But there’s a problem with just saying hi. You won’t get a reply, and the algorithm will stop sending you women your way.
Imagine you have a new favorite movie. You recommend it to a few friends. They watch it and end up complaining about how boring it is. Would you keep recommending the movie to others?
Of course not, as you don’t want the rest of your friends bitching to you.
Tinder works the same way. If your current matches don’t reply, Tinder will stop sending you new matches.
Don’t worry. I got your back. I’ve written an article to show you how to start a conversation on Tinder with your matches so they are eager to reply.
Tinder Hack #12: Keep replying
Tinder doesn’t like dead-end text conversations.
Its goal is to keep female users entertained so they use the app daily. It’s the same principle as Ladies Night in bars. They use free entry and cheap drinks to attract as many female customers as possible.
They know the more women are in the bar, the more guys will show up and pay for entrance.
Tinder does the same. But instead of cheap drinks, it allows women to meet guys and have flirty conversations with them. Show Tinder you can keep a woman entertained, and it’ll send you more matches your way.
To achieve that, you need to know how to seduce a woman.
Tinder Hack #13: Reinstall Tinder the right way
Deleting Tinder is the last resort.
If you’ve already done too many things to piss off the algorithm, it’s better to start fresh. But deleting Tinder is tricky. Even after you delete the app, you need to wait at least 3 months before Tinder deletes all your private information according to their privacy policy.
Only then can you start again with a clean slate.
But there is a way you can start fresh in less than 3 months.
You need to convince Tinder you’re a new guy just signing up for the app.
Here’s how:
- Sign up for Tinder with a new SIM card…
- Preferably, use a new phone…
- Install it from a different IP address than your home, such as a Starbucks nearby…
- Use new pictures + bio…
- Don’t connect to your previous social media accounts…
- And if you want to pay for boosts, use a different card than before…
Do all these things, and Tinder will treat you as a new user.
Last hack: Delete and reinstall Tinder on Sunday.
This way, you make the most of the newbie boost. Tinder is trying to get new users addicted by helping them to get results during their first 48 hours on the app. So why not take advantage of it?
Since Sunday evening is one of the times most of its female users are online, you’ll get more matches with your newbie boost than during other times.
